What's the difference between JPG and PNG image formats?
Generally speaking, the difference is negligible. JPG files are compressed using a method that degrades the quality of the image to create much smaller files. This is done in a way that preserves as much image quality as possible, but if you're going for very small files, there is a noticable degridation in quality. For highest quality, use PNG. For good quality vs. file size, use JPG.
